The first steps

A quite long time is gone since we got the house and started this project. Now, I want to write about the last times we´ve went to the house. Since 26th January we went several times to waste a part of the personal belognings the last couple lived in the house left for still unclear reasons.. We´re still thinking "why they left in the house so personal stuff, like underwear, clothes, accesories, dishies and even their electronics? Nå, We still have a lot of questions that will be enventually answered next Month. The previous owners will come back to this small city to meet us and talk about the house. I´m very excited about it, because i have a lot of queries!

We went several times to the City´s Clean Center to leave at least 15 futons, blankets, pillows, cushions, sheets, wear and books. It was really incredible how many futons the previous owners had! And didn´t mention about a huge towell collection we´ve found too. Of course, due to the location, the weather and the time the house were abandoned, there´s also a terrible collection of death insects everywhere inside the house. Since I´ve lived in Finland for so long time I´m not use to see that extensive taxonomic collection. At the first day I started to scream every time I´ve found an insect. So I´ve noticed that I´m no so prepared to live inside the mountains.. Not yet. I supose, it will take a time for me.

Anyways, after my partner and me left out (on the garden) almost all furniture we´ve found, he started to explore around both the roof and the underground. As he didn´t expect, the roof and the ceiling are still in pretty good condition. But on the other hand, the ground needs a almost totally restoration.

Because I´m not daiku, I cannot be able to help so much in this case. I thought it could be better if I take care of the garden and clean other parts of the house. Then I started to remove all unwanted weed and plants. The meaning was to make the entrance wider, that makes our work easier with the time. My parents in law have come sometimes to see the house. Of course they´re as curious as us! I really like when they come, their interest makes the essence, I think.

Then, as a review:

- Went to the Clean Center 4 times.

- Emptied half house.

- Removed the tatami, the base of the floor and the basement of 2 traditional style´s rooms.

- Cleaned the entrance of the garden.

- Explored around the area.

I feel we have done a lot in just one month. I hope we can keep that beat!

Los primeros pasos

Un tiempo bastante largo ha pasado desde que recibimos la casa y comenzamos este proyecto. Ahora quisiera escribir acerca de las últimas veces que hemos ido a la casa. Desde el 26 de enero fuimos varias veces a botar una parte de las pertenencias personales de la pareja anterior que vivió en la casa y dejó allí por razones aún no muy claras. Aún pensamos en ”por qué dejaron en la casa cosas tan personales tales como ropa interior, ropa, accesorios, vajillas, ollas e incluso electrodomésticos?” Nå, tenemos aún muchísimas preguntas que eventualmente serán respondidas el próximo mes. Los dueños anteriores vendrán a esta pequeña ciudad para encontrarse con nosotros y hablar acerca de la casa. Tengo mucha emoción, porque tengo muchos interrogantes!

El tatami estaba practicamente podrido, era peligroso caminar sobre él.

Fuimos varias veces al centro de clasificacion de desechos para dejar por lo menos 15 futones, cobijas, almohadas, cojines, sábanas, ropa y libros. Fue increible ver cuántos futones los dueños anteriores tenian! Sin mencionar una enorme colección de toallas que también encontramos. Por supuesto, debido al clima y el tiempo en que la casa ha permanecido abandonada hay también una terrible colección de insectos muertos dentro de ésta. Debido a que he vivido en Finlandia por tan largo tiempo no estoy nada acostumbrada a ver semejante colección taxonómica tan enorme. En el primer día gritaba cada vez que encontraba un insecto. Asi que me di cuenta que no estoy tan preparada para vivir en las montañas.. No aún, creo, me va a tomar un buen tiempo.

Así se veía la entrada del jardin. Un total desastre.

En todo caso, luego de que mi pareja y yo dejamos en el jardín casi todos los muebles que encontramos él comenzó a explorar entre el techo, su base y la base de la casa. Y pues como no se lo esperaba, el techo está todavía en muy buena condición. Pero por otro lado, la base del suelo interior y la base de la casa necesita al menos una renovacion casi total.

Como yo no soy Daiku, No puedo ayudar nucho en ese caso. Así que pensé que sería mejor si me encargo del jardín y limpio las otras partes de la casa. Así que comencé a quitar toda la maleza y plantas indeseadas. La idea era hacer la entrada del jardín más ancha, haciendo el trabajo más fácil con el tiempo. Mis suegros han venido algunas veces para ver la casa. Por supuesto ellos son(y están) tan curiosos como nosotros! Realmente me gusta cuando ellos vienen, su interés le da sentido, creo yo.

Entonces como resumen:

• Fuimos al al Centro de Clasificación de Desechos 4 veces.
• Desocupamos la mitad de la casa.
• Quitamos el tatami, la base del suelo y la base de dos de las habitaciones de estilo tradicional.
• Limpiamos la entrada del jardín.

   Siento que hemos hecho muchísimo en tan solo un mes. Espero que podamos seguir ese ritmo!
